This weekend we went to a local craft store to pick up some more beading supplies. There just happened to be a demonstration going on showing how to use eye pins with beads so Keira and I stayed and made a few things. She has been beading all weekend… her main focus has been making earrings for the third grade tag sale that is coming up….
She is very creative and really enjoys coming up with new ideas. She has a great handle on using her little tools and takes chances, trying new ideas to see what she can come up with.
I have so many hobbies that the LAST thing I needed was a new one.. but I have to say I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Keira
had a piece of an old costume necklace from my grandma who has passed on… she took the beads off and made me a beautiful set of red earrings from it. I was so touched.
We are going to start looking at tag sales, goodwill and other places to find old jewelry – even broken jewelry – to create new pieces together.
My husband also created a book holder for Keira’s
room. He made it in his workshop and included Keira
– then they painted it and put it up near her bed as she loves to read each night before going to sleep.
She put her favorite books on this shelf along with her current reads. Her room isn’t large but it is warm and inviting and she has really made it her own special place. She will stay in her room beading, reading, writing and playing for hours when she has the time.
I’m thankful that my older daughters enjoy reading so much. And, they choose quality books which is very important to me.
Our shelf is made from wood but these book shelves can also be made a similar way with rain gutters ::see here::
Where are your book nooks?
