Simple Knitted Bunny Video Tutorial

Supplies Needed:

Knitted Squares

Wool Stuffing

Needle & Thread (or yarn needle and extra yarn)

  1. Using your needle and thread, carefully make a triangle shape with a running stitch on the top of your square.
  2. Pull the triangle thread tight and as it closes up, stuff the center with a ball of wool. This forms both the head and ears of your bunny.
  3. You will be left with the body of the bunny. Sew together the two remaining edges and stuff it with wool.
  4. The bottom (tail) will be left open. Sew it closed and add a little cotton ball or pom pom for the tail.

Not sure what to do with all those knitted squares you or your child have been collecting? In our first grade program, the children are learning how to knit. This is a fun way to make a simple toy out of one of the completed squares. This activity is included in Week Ten of our First Grade Curriculum to go along with our story of Jesper Who Herded the Hares.
