? Day Two: Michael Finds His Strength
✨ Finger Play/Story
Dragon roars across the sky,
(arms wide, big roar)
Michael lifts his lantern high.
(raise one hand up like holding a glowing light)
He takes a breath, his heart grows strong,
(big breath in, stand tall, hand over heart)
The dragon fades — the light goes on.
(raise both hands high like shining light, smile)
? Activity
After reciting the finger play, invite children to:
-
Draw or paint a dragon shadow with crayons, chalk, or paint.
-
Then add a shining lantern or golden star to show how Michael’s light can bring peace.
-
Talk gently about how sometimes big “shadows” in our lives (loud noises, worries, hard days) can fade when we shine our light of courage.
?️ Craft
Shadow Dragon Puppets ?✨
-
Cut a dragon shape from black cardstock or construction paper.
-
Tape it to a stick, straw, or chopstick.
-
Turn off the lights, shine a lantern or flashlight against a wall or sheet, and let children make the dragon “fly.”
-
Then shine another lantern toward the shadow, saying the finger play again — watch the dragon’s shadow shrink and soften.
? Snack
Dragon Shadow Sandwiches
-
Cut sandwiches with a dragon cookie cutter (or use any fun shape).
-
Serve with “lantern fruit” — glowing orange slices or golden pineapple chunks.
-
Optional: dim the lights and enjoy the snack by lantern-light for extra magic.
✨ Focus for Day Two: Courage is not about fighting. Like Michael, we can shine our light and watch shadows fade.
